Aaron’s Story
Graduation
Meet Aaron, a graduate and
former triathlete who is living his
chiropractic dream in his hometown.
After graduating, Aaron and a classmate
headed to Australia to manage a practice in the
Outback. He says the practical experience and
the College networks set up the pair brilliantly
for their new-graduate experience.
Small Town, Big Dreams
Livin’ The Dream
Aaron grew up in Riversdale, a small town in
the South Island of New Zealand. From a young
age, he pursued a passion for competitive
triathlon and sought chiropractic care as part
of his personal wellbeing plan. After winning a
Youth Olympics gold medal, sporting injuries
prevented him from continuing his professional
athletic career, so he decided to become a
chiropractor himself. “I was fascinated by the
human body. I was pushing my body to its limits
and doing what I could to optimise my sporting
performance and felt instinctively drawn to
chiropractic.”
Now home from Australia, Aaron owns two
chiropractic practices in Invercargill and Winton,
New Zealand. He feels that the transition to
professional practice was simple, thanks to the
College’s preparation.
Plan B-rilliant
Aaron started his foundation studies at The
Auckland University of Technology whilst still
competing at a non-professional level. He
admits racing and getting back into study was
tough going, but once he got to the NZCC his
motivation and passion for chiropractic went
from strength to strength. “It’s a good place
to be and a good environment to learn in. It
fuels your passion and motivates you to
enjoy your study.”
A New Man
Aaron says his time at the College broadened his
horizons and changed him for the better. “Whilst
studying at the NZCC, I started meeting people
from all over the world. I have made some close
friends who share the same interests as me,
some of them will be my best mates for the rest
of my life.”
‘Go All In’
Aaron doesn’t feel there’s much room for
‘umming and ahhing’ when it comes to
chiropractic study. His advice to others
considering a career in chiropractic is to go all
in. “If you’re passionate and you want to make a
difference in people’s lives with just your hands,
then give it a go. It’s a very rewarding career.”
Start your career in chiropractic and live the dream.
“By the time you
graduate, you’re
just ready. I never
felt out of my
depth in the
‘real world’.”
